Look at the lake we live next to. Our friends across the street have a webcam in their backyard. It updates about every half hour.

this is fun to do- try to stump the website.. you think of either a dictator or a charactor on a sitcom and answer yes or no questions about the person. Usually the computer guesses it. Worth going to at least once and trying to stump it. You may find it's addicting. (I started with Nicholas Bradford from Eight is enough, and went from there.... so far only stumped it once)

Where in the world? Condé Nast has a site that has a contest every month with a new location. You get a photo of the location and clues, which can help you figure it out. I have found it helpful to hunt for information on Google for finding out more about the location. This is definitely a fun and challenging change of pace that will broaden your horizons.

The Not So Big House is a wonderful concept. Sarah Susanka has written several books detailing the theories behind it and ways to implement her ideas.

Read about the adventures of some kids I lived with years ago. Three of the Jackson kids went on an amazing adventure back in 1998.(They won a grant from Outside Magazine to go on it!) I lived with the family for 2 summers when they were very small. (Their dad and I both worked at Camp Four Winds together) The family lives in Maine on a small remote island off the coast. The kids have been homeschooled there, yet have had experiences that have led them farther and wider than most with the more typical resources that I know. Very cool kids, good roots, good wings.... great parents.
